Last evening the weather forecasters (Weather on the nines with Spectrum Bay News 9!) were predicting fog this morning and I remember thinking "fog, never in Florida" and looked out as it got light to see - fog, or at least some mist -
Having had my well-earned rest day on my "Couch to 5k" programme, today was the day for my second run of 3 this week. Fog or not, off I went.
On the way round I bumped (twice) into a man who on the second circuit seemed keen to introduce himself. He said he was Tom from Pennsylvania who was renting Alex and Tim's villa. I asked him if his surname was Troutman and he said it was. He and his wife were the ones renting our villa on the day we bought it in 2018!
Then it was back to base and time to put the cot together that we had bought as a flat pack on Sunday. Testing times were about to begin!
That done, our dynamic pool cleaning duo appeared and told us stories of the time they had a black bear on their property and about the trials and tribulations of bringing their cat over from the UK on a Thomas Cook flight just as they were going bust!
I expressed surprised they had a cat here but they say they don't dare let him out in case he becomes a coyote dinner!
Jackie was about to put the chlorine in the pool when she found this little fella who would have faced certain death if she hadn't found him before the chlorine went in ....
Our second villa upgrade of the day is a replacement phone! The old one has never filled me with confidence, so it has now been superseded by this very exclusive $19.99 - plus tax of course - model!
After our 'cool' experience in late November we were worried that coming in January might not be the best idea, but what 's not to like about this?
We set off with Larry and Dottie at 4.30pm for the Bonefish Grill - the best places fill up quickly here - and we were set to enjoy the delicacies on offer. It was also a chance for a photo of our neighbours.
The food was quite something and we went for the specials menu starting with a Caesar salad. I had a scallop and shrimp (prawns to us) dish and Elizabeth had Atlantic salmon.
